Why I’m starting a blog

I’ve regularly read blogs for more than five years. I can’t remember exactly how I stumbled upon my first blog, but since then I have been hooked.

I’ve always gravitated toward lifestyle blogs, where normal people share a little bit of their lives and connect with people through common interests. I love reading about cool restaurants in cities I’ve never been to, or seeing a post about someone’s favorite beauty products. I have watched so many of those blogs grow over the years.

I’ve quietly sat on the sidelines all those years thinking about how fun it would be to start my own lifestyle blog. I do, after all, have two degrees in writing. But there was always that doubt and fear in the back of my mind. All of the “what if” scenarios ultimately kept me from following through. What if no one reads it? What if people are mean in the comments? What if people I know make fun of me or don’t understand why I do it?

I still have those thoughts, but I’m choosing to ignore them. Why should I let the fear of what others might think stop me from doing something I want to do?

So, here we are. My very first blog post. I’m so excited to start this journey and see where it takes me.

Thanks for joining me!
