I just finished 10 days of vacation and now I’m back to the daily grind. It was some much needed time off to recharge. It had been over a year since I had taken a week off. I spent most of the week in Pittsburgh, but still had a relaxing vacation.
The days were filled with trips to Highland Park to get some sun, eating good food and spending time with friends. Eric and I went down to the point one day to see the fountain and enjoy the sun by the rivers and we went to the movies to see Neighbors 2 (it was kind of funny, but nowhere near as good as the first one). It was so nice to have some time together and not be rushing around to work and meetings all the time.
Pretty flowers blooming at Highland Park
Over Memorial Day weekend I went home to West Virginia to see my family. It was great to see everyone and eat some yummy homemade food. We grilled out at my brother’s house on Saturday and then my mom made some of my favorites on Sunday—bbq pulled pork sandwiches and cheesy potatoes.
I wanted to buy this sprinkles machine at a local ice cream shop
Part of Monday was spent driving the four hours back to Pittsburgh. When I got here it was so nice that I decided to get outside one last time, so I went over to the Hampton pool to take a dip and get some sun. Then I went and grabbed a couple beers and some Mexican food for dinner while visiting one of my friends at work.
My last moments of relaxing before vacation was over
I’m so, so happy that it’s finally sunny and warm outside. It seemed like it was never going to happen. I’m soaking up every second that I can.
I hope everyone had a nice long weekend and unofficial start of summer!
