California Part I

Hello! I’m alive and back from my trip to California. I didn’t mean to take such a long break from blogging, but life has been busy. I wanted to do a recap of my trip because it was so much fun and I got to see so many beautiful places. I decided to break it into two parts since the trip was pretty long and we visited two different parts of the state. For the first three days we were in San Francisco. We got in on Wednesday afternoon and went straight to our hotel. We stayed at Hotel Zelos right downtown. It was a great location because we were so close to a lot of restaurants and shopping. The first night we were pretty tired from traveling so we just ordered some Mexican takeout and relaxed in the room.

On Thursday my sister had to go to work so it was just me and my niece. We ventured out to the Yerba Buena Gardens park so Grace could run around outside for a little bit and get some fresh air. We also went to the Children’s Creativity Museum which is right next to the park. It was really neat and had a ton of different activities for kids of all ages. My niece had so much fun playing with everything. I would definitely suggest taking your kids there if you live near or are traveling to San Francisco.
For dinner on Thursday we had Lemonade, which I was so excited about. I always see people who live in California posting about it and I had to try it. We got a bunch of different foods to share. The Thanksgiving greens salad was awesome and the cucumber mint lemonade was perfection.

On Friday we did a big tour of San Francisco. Part of it was a three-hour bus tour that stopped at different places around the city. We got to stop and get pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Sutro Baths and Fisherman’s Warf. We also took an hour boat ride on the bay where we went under the bridge and past Alcatraz. We got to stop by the Ghirardelli Square and get some icecream, too.

We left San Francisco on Saturday morning and flew to Orange County, which is where we stayed the rest of the week. We stayed at the Monarch Beach Resort and it was seriously amazing. I’ve never stayed at such a nice hotel in my life. It had beautiful views of the ocean from the pools and a shuttle down to a private beach. It had tons of restaurants and even a Drybar inside! We were seriously spoiled. We spent our first night there at the pool and then went down to the beach to watch the sunset and have dinner.

Sunday we got up and had brunch at The Beachcomber in Crystal Cove and it was soo good! I highly recommend going there if you are ever in the area. One of the best meals we had on the entire trip, hands down. I got the Crystal Cove omelet with potatoes and toast and I did not ever want it to end. We also shared the beignets, which they are known for. My sister had the huevos rancheros and it looked so good. It was right on the beach so the view was amazing.

Monday we just took it easy by the pool. It was just me and Grace for Monday during the day and then part of Tuesday while my sister worked.

I’ll end it here and pick up tomorrow with the rest of the trip!
