Casual Friday No. 2

Happy Friday, everyone! I had intended for these Casual Friday posts to be a more regular blog series, but I just haven’t kept up with it. I’m hoping to try again to make them at least a monthly post. I enjoy being able to just throw all kinds of thoughts and links together in one post without over-thinking it.

So, grab some tea or coffee and let’s chat!

I’m going to work over the weekend on a series of posts for our wedding photos. I think I’m going to break them up into four posts: “First Look,” “Getting ready,” “Ceremony” and “Reception.” I can’t wait to share them all with you. I’m so, so happy with how they turned out.

I went to see “The Glass Castle” this week. It was so good, but definitely pulled at your heartstrings. I shed more than a few tears—especially toward the end. I never read the memoir that it’s based on, but I’m thinking about going back and reading it now. I’m always a sucker for a good non-fiction book. I love reading about things that actually happened and hearing about other’s life experiences.

I am so ready for fall. I may or may not be wearing booties and a scarf today. I’m just trying to will the 80 degree weather away with my fall wardrobe. I’m just craving the dark, vampy colors of fall, warm drinks and sweaters!

I’m about to enter the last year of my twenties this month! My birthday is Aug. 29. I’m thinking about making a list of things I want to do this year. I think it would be a fun way to say bye to this decade. It’s been a good 10 years, but I’m actually so ready to move into my 30s. I might be the only person to say they are looking forward to turning 30. I think I’m going to write a whole post about reflecting on my 20s.

I’ve been trying to read “Fates and Furies” by Lauren Groff and I’ve had such a hard time getting into it. We’ve been going to the library more and I picked it up on a whim. I have to return it in a few days, so I’m hoping I can just knock it out. It has some good reviews, so I’m hoping it gets better.

We had a couple of friends visiting last week and went to the Chris Stapleton concert at Keybank Pavillion. It poured rain for the first half hour or so, but then it cleared off. We were soaked, but it was so worth it because he was SO good. I would definitely recommend trying to see him in concert if you like his music.

Have a great weekend!

Casual Friday No. 1

Hello and Happy New Year! I hope everyone has had a great start to 2017. I’ve been busy starting a new job and trying not to be too sad that the holidays are over. I thought I’d start a new series on my blog called “Casual Fridays” where I talk about anything and everything that I’m loving/hating/thinking/doing lately. So, grab some tea or coffee and let’s chat!

Kristin Ess is coming out with a hair care range for Target and it looks great (and affordable!). If you don’t follow her on Instagram, you totally should. She does the most gorgeous beachy waves on Lauren Conrad and Lucy Hale.

Speaking of Lauren Conrad, I jumped for joy when she announced her pregnancy earlier this month. You all know I’m an OG fan dating back to her Laguna Beach days. I can’t wait to follow along with her posts.

One of my favorite Youtubers, Fleur de Force, is doing a lipstick collab with MAC and it looks like the perfect pink shade.

I’m so into the Target Beauty Boxes right now. You get the best, most usable products for $10. They also recently did a $5 box that was awesome. They come out once a month and usually sell out pretty quick.

I tried out Stitchfix for the first time this month. It’s a clothing subscription service where you pay $20 and a stylist sends you a box of five items. You can keep whatever you want (or send it all back). If you do decide to buy, then the $20 fee is deducted from the price. I wasn’t totally crazy about it, though. I found the quality of the clothes wasn’t worth the high price tag for most items. I ended up keeping a scarf, which is really nice quality. I’ve already worn it twice. I signed up to get one more in March to see if maybe the selections are better.

Lastly, Eric and I picked a new wedding date! We will be getting married May 21, 2017! Just five months away. I can’t believe it. So, I’ll be dusting off the old Wedding Wednesday series and doing some updates. We changed our location and some other details that I want to talk about.

Meeting bloggers & shopping

Group photo

Last weekend I was able to attend my first blogger event and it was so much fun.

The Grove City Outlet Mall held a summer style event for local bloggers to come mingle and check out the latest fashion for spring and summer. I have to admit, I was so nervous the days leading up to it that I almost chickened out. I worried that I hadn’t been blogging long enough or that all the other bloggers would know each other and I’d be awkwardly standing alone. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I’m so glad I got the chance to meet so many other bloggers from Pittsburgh and a few from Ohio, too! Everyone was so friendly and it made me so happy to be part of such a great community of motivated and inspiring women.

Blogger event

I’m pretty much going to live in rompers this summer. This one is from Target.

The mall put on a great event. There were displays set up from a few stores where we could go through some of their latest designs and then there were four models that were wearing some, too. I am by no means a fashion blogger, but I still had a great time. It was fun to Instagram and Snapchat throughout the event and share what was going on.

The mall staff treated us so well by giving everyone a bag full of goodies and coupons as well as a gift card that could be used at any of the mall’s stores.  I used my gift card at Banana Republic, Old Navy, Aerie and Bath & Body Works. Below are the things I got from Banana Republic and Old Navy.

I am really looking forward to taking part in more blogger meet-up events! I’m linking all of the blogs from everyone who went to the event below so everyone can check them out!
