This will be the only year Eric and I spend Christmas as an engaged couple. I think that makes it extra special. It will be our sixth Christmas together overall. This year we aren’t really getting each other any big presents. We’re just going to do stocking-stuffers so we can save money for the wedding. I was recently thinking about what engaged couples would want for Christmas. It made me think up a list of what engaged couples might want for Christmas to help out with wedding expenses, which seem to be never ending. Of course, we don’t expect anything. We just want to be together for the holiday. Click below to read my suggestions.

Well, blogging every day in December hasn’t gone as planned. This month has just. been. so. busy. As you saw in my last post, I was in Florida for a few days with my sister and niece. When I got back from that I had the longest week at work. Lots of 12-hour days. And I was just too tired to blog at the end of them. I just now finally got our Christmas tree up and decorated. I pretty much feel so behind on everything this month.
So, I’m trying to make some time to get ahead on posts this week. I don’t know if I will be able to blog every day as I hoped, but there will definitely be several posts you can look forward to for the rest of the month.
Today I want to share with you some of my favorite holiday movies, in case you are looking for something to keep you entertained through the holidays.
My absolute favorite holiday movie is “The Family Stone.” I think this is such an underrated movie. I never really hear anyone talk about it. It’s centered around the Stone family being home together during Christmas. There’s lots of family drama. It’s definitely the type of movie that has you laughing and then 20 minutes later you’re crying.
Another comedy that I love is “Trapped in Paradise.” It’s about three guys who rob a bank in a small town called Paradise and then can’t get away because of a big snow storms. There are lots of funny twists and turns.
I recently discovered “Fitzgerald Family Christmas” on Netflix and thought it was really good. It’s another one that is centered around a large family with a lot of issues when they all try to get together for Christmas.
No matter how old I am, I will always love “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” It’s such a classic and so sweet. I love all of the Peanuts holiday movies.
And of course, there’s the ultimate classic: “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.” I think everyone watches this one multiple times each year, but for good reason. Even though I’ve seen it a million times, I always laugh.
What are some of your favorite holiday movies? I’m always up for discovering a new one.
I hope everyone is having a great start to December and the wonderful holiday season! This is absolutely my favorite time of year. It makes me feel so happy just seeing all of the decorations and hearing the Christmas music everywhere.
This year I’m especially excited to add something new to the season – Blogmas!
If you don’t know what Blogmas is, basically it’s a fun challenge where bloggers post every day in December leading up to Christmas.
I think it’s going to be so fun to blog every day and get to do some exciting holiday posts. I almost started the whole thing off behind. I’ve been trying to get this post up all day and I’m just making it in under the wire at 10 p.m. When I got home from work my internet was down for most of the evening, so I couldn’t post. However, the rest of the month’s posts will be put up much earlier in the day so you can actually read them before bed!
Does anyone have anything they’d like to see me blog about this month? If so, leave your suggestions in the comments!

I can’t believe it’s November already. I feel like this year has flown by. I’m excited, though, because November starts my favorite time of year – the holidays! Below are some things I’m looking forward to this month.
Cooking Thanksgiving dinner with Eric
Last year we decided it was too stressful to drive back home for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so we stayed in Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving. It was nice to cook a big holiday meal together and spend the day relaxing instead of driving all day trying to see everyone.
My sister and niece coming to visit
It will be nice to have some visitors and go do some fun holiday things with my niece. She’s almost three, so she’s tons of fun and I know she’ll love all of the holiday stuff going on.
Getting our engagement pictures done
We have our engagement photo session next Monday. It’s the first time we are meeting our photographer. I hope they turn out good and we can use one for our Christmas cards.
Decorating for the holidays
I’ll probably wait until the end of the month, but decorating for Christmas is one of my favorite things to do all year. I know it’s early, but I just can’t help it. I love seeing all of the lights and decorations. It looks so cheery. Hopefully we get the first snow flurries of the year this month to get us all in the spirit. I’m not a huge fan of tons of snow, but I do love a good flurry around the holidays.
The release of Adele’s new album
I’m so excited to hear this album. Aside from the recent release of the first single off the album, it’s been so long since we’ve heard anything from Adele. I love her voice and I’m sure this album will not disappoint.
The movie “Spotlight”
This movie is about a group of journalists at the Boston Globe who uncover a scandal. It’s based on a true story and the reporters won Pulitzer Prizes for their work. I have been looking forward to seeing this movie for months. As a journalist, I love watching these types of movies. The cast looks amazing and it’s getting a lot of positive buzz from critics. Watch the trailer here.
What are you guys looking forward to this month?
