Waiting for spring

Editor’s note: This time the last two years I was in Mexico with my best friend enjoying the sunshine and eating too much guacamole and pico de gallo. So excuse me while I day dream about warmer weather in this post.

Spring doesn’t officially start until the end of the month, but I still see March as the unofficial start to it — the light at the end of the long tunnel that is winter.

Even though this winter wasn’t as bad as the past few have been, I’m still ready for a change. I get tired of wearing a coat all the time and the dreary weather. I am anxiously waiting for that first day I can pop outside with just a shirt and jeans and be comfortable. There have been a few days over the past couple of weeks where it’s reached 60 degrees here in Pittsburgh, but the wind still has a chill to it.

I’m so looking forward to eating on patios, wearing spring colors, brightening up my makeup, going to the park and feeling the sunshine on my poor vitamin-d-deprived skin. I’m also looking forward to more wedding planning and my bridal shower in May!

Below are a few goals for the spring:

Organize my closet

I’ve been slowly weeding out a lot of clutter over the winter. I’ve sold a lot of clothes to consignment stores and donated the rest. I’ve made a lot of progress, but there’s still more to be done.

Work out more

I’ve been spending a couple of hours every weekend at the gym and trying to go more during the week. Mostly I walk/jog on the treadmill, but I also do some weight machines and lots of stretching. I’d like to lose a little weight before my dress alterations have to be done, so I’m kicking it into high gear as spring approaches.

Start putting more money in savings

I want to eat out less and stay home more in an effort to save money. Mostly for wedding expenses, but also just to have more of a reserve in case something comes up like car repairs, which seems to be happening a lot lately. I told Eric I feel like our lives are the opening scene of “Up” where they keep saving for their big trip, but have to keep spending the money on other things.

All of these goals are also related to a few of my goals for 2016. Overall, I feel like I’m doing pretty well with those, especially the skincare routine. I’ll be sharing that in an upcoming post.

What are you looking forward to this spring?
